I served as a full time professor at Georgetown University for 25 years, and retired in 2022 as Professor Emeritus. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Honors from the University of Maryland, my Master of Science in nurse anesthesia from Columbia University in New York City, and my doctorate in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. I am an expert in the areas of stress physiology and related symptoms such as anxiety and depression, anesthesia, pain management, IV ketamine therapy and alternative medicine, and hold a diplomate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
I have been published in numerous journals, including Experimental Biology and Medicine and Endocrinology, as well as BMC Anesthesiology. I have also been highlighted in numerous popular magazines such as National Geographic, and Time Magazine.
I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and am the Editor in Chief of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Journal.
